By E. Thomalen
The purpose of this book is to provide actors with compelling texts that they can use when answering audition calls for stage or screen artists. The selections provide a variety of different states and characters; and ranges from fictional to historical personalities. Texts vary in length from one page to 26 pages, from verse to prose and are taken from 20 different plays. Some of the texts are momentary reflections, while others are whole scenes, some are only one character and some two characters. The duologue allows an actor to inhabit more than one role to demonstrate their versatility; or permits two actors to work together in diverse roles. All of the plays are from Thomalen's published dramatic work. Some of the selections are from work adapted for the theater from novels by others (e.g. Quarantine! adapted from Camus The Plague and The Metamorphosis - A Play from Kafka's novella).
