"Called ‘Clara's Christmas Dreams’ this 75-minute adaptation is based on Alexandre Dumas's version of the story, which also inspired Tchaikovsky's ballet. Here Clara is not merely asleep on Christmas Eve but ill…Her visitors are the products of her delirium, and the Nutcracker's role is to help rescue her … With duels to the death and high-spirited action, the show mesmerizes even boys."

"Stage Right Productions presents a holiday show for the family entitled ‘Clara's Christmas Dreams’ at St. Clement's Church in midtown. E. Thomalen's dulcet adaptation of The Nutcracker with music by Tim Starnes and direction by Bruce Merrill, is a traditional take on the famous holiday classic…the music and sound design…shone. Many audience members were strongly affected by the musical composition. The creative design elements can also be attributed to long time theater director Bruce Merrill who did a great job of keeping children's attention both through the visual design elements, as well as the interspersed choreography.
"CLARA'S CHRISTMAS DREAMS is a classic tale of a young girl's adventures into a fantasy world. For a traditional Christmas production, this is a charming, sweet, show worth seeing."
